줄거리
남다르게 성숙하고 진지한, 여덟 살 난 어린 소년, 폴은 본인 자신의 요청에 의해 보통의 어린아이들은 경험하기 힘든, 생애 가장 고통스러운 경험을 하기로 결심한다.

그러나 평생 그의 영혼에 각인될 경험을 한 후에야, 어린 소년, 폴은 깨닫기 시작한다.

지금 막, 그가 그토록 사랑하는 엄마를 잃었다는 것을. (Paul, an eight year old boy, is mature and serious. One day, he asks for the most painful experience in his life, and his request is answered. After a series of surreal and tragic incidences, Paul realizes that his beloved mother has died. While trying to accept his mother’s death calmly, Paul reaches for his dead mother’s fingernails and holds them in his hands. It is still hard for Paul to accept the reality.)
연출의도. 아이는 아이이므로 성장할 것이라는, 보이지 않는 희망이 있다.

어떻게 성장할 지는 알 수 없다.

하지만, 분명한 건 살아있는 한, 그리고 그가 성장을 계속하는 한, 삶은 어쨌거나 지속 될 것이라는 사실이다.

어린 나이에 죽음을 곁에서 지켜보는 소년은 영적으로 아주 민감하고 예민하게 삶과 죽음의 묘한 경계선을 느끼게 된다.

그것이 표면적으로는 한 어린 영혼에 각인될 비극적 경험일지 모르지만, 결국 그의 성장에 긍정적인 영향을 주기를, 그리고 궁극적으로 그의 영혼의 회복을 통해 희망이 잉태되기를 신실하게 염원해본다.

(There is a hope that a boy grows. We don’t know how he will turn out in future though. But one thing is for sure. As long as he grows older, his life will continue. At early age, the boy witnesses a death. He sensitively feels the strange border in between life and death. This experience may traumatize him. But I hope ultimately it gives him positive influences. I hope his soul embraces ‘hope’ through ‘recovery’.)
