줄거리
폴은 2년 동안 인질로 어딘지도 모르는 지하감옥에 갇혀 매일 같이 똑 같은 형편없는 식사를 눈을 가린 채 해야만 한다.

어느 날, 새로온 인질범 중의 한명이 자신을 맡을 간수가 되는 일상의 변화가 찾아온다.

새로운 간수의 의도적 회피에도 불구하고 시도했던 끊임없는 말걸기가 지쳐갈 무렵, 무심코 던진 질문에 대한 간수의 감자라는 대답이 폴에게 고향집에 대한 향수와 희망의 감정을 다시금 싹트이게 한다.

볼품없는 감자요리와 꽃 향기, 머리속으로 그려보는 아름다운 풍경등이 폴의 암흑 같은 나날들의 색깔을 바꿔 놓는다.

(Paul has been a hostage for 2 years. The hope is dripping away. But one day, the tedium by a routine of being in a cell, being blindfolded and the same soup is broken with a new arrived guard. He is in all effort to communicate. He is in an attempt to ask for a baked potato and explains how to make the perfect baked potato. When the baked potato is finally served, he shares it with the new guard. Sharing a potato leads to sharing a dream.)
연출의도. Baked Potato는 간단한 감자요리가 오랫동안 억류되어 희망을 잃어버린 인질의 삶을 변화시킨다는 내용이다.

사람들이 무엇인가를 깨닫고 변화를 갖게 되는 계기가 거창한 결심과 완벽한 계획보다는 살면서 우연히 만나는 사소한 것들에 관심을 갖게 되는 순간이라고 생각한다.

(This is a story about simple food, a baked potato which changes the hostage who lost hope while being kept in a cell. The motivation of changing people seems to be small things, like food, which people take for granted or hardly notice in everyday life rather than a firm resolution and a perfect plan.)
